Frankl Essay
For your final essay, evaluate Frankl’s argument in comparison to Freud’s primary belief that
natural instincts control human behavior. Answer the following question: Does Frankl’s Man’s
Search for Meaning support Freud’s deterministic theory of human behavior? In answering this
question, you can read with and/or against Frankl.
Source Requirements: Cite from at least three sources other than Frankl. One of these
additional sources must be from outside research. You may also pull from the readings in
previous units.
Other Requirements:
Your essay should be 5-6 pages. It should include the following:
1. An introduction that grabs the reader’s attention, provides background/set up, and
sets up your stance.
2. A specific, arguable, non-triplicate thesis (not a list).
3. Body paragraphs unified by a topic sentence that states the arguable point of the
paragraph.
4. Textual evidence in each body paragraph (well introduced, cited, and analyzed).
5. A conclusion that does more than state the main points of the paper.
