He first joined the firm as a summer student in 2014. Michael is a J.D. graduate from Schulich School of Law. During his final year, he competed at the Laskin Moot Competition in French where he won a second place team award for written factum. He also spent four months studying international business and tax law and European market law at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam in the fall of 2014. Prior to law school, Michael graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Peace and Conflict Studies in an Arts & Business program. He was awarded an EL Publisher’s Scholarship for essay entitled, “The Unfortunate Triumph of the Status Quo.” Michael has experience on both the content- and technical-side of websites working for Coldwell Banker and Desire2Learn Inc. He has also crafted risk management policy for the Real Property Branch of the federal Department of Public Works and Government Services. During his undergraduate degree, Michael went to Mombasa, Kenya and conducted community outreach about election violence with local youth groups. At law school, Michael was actively involved in organizing intramural sports, playing and captaining a number of co-ed recreational soccer and basketball teams.
