Chabot College Fall 2010 Course Outline for Physical Education 48 INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS - WOMEN'S SOCCER Catalog Description: 48 – Intercollegiate Athletics - Women's Soccer (May be repeated 2 times.) 2 units Training for intercollegiate competition. Students who desire to participate in intercollegiate athletics will be required to adhere to academic eligibility requirements listed in the CCCAA/ COA manual, pass a physical examination by a licensed medical doctor and demonstrate an ability to safely participate in the specific intercollegiate sport. Compliance with all rules/ regulations governing the specific intercollegiate sport will also be required. Daily practice. 10 hours. [Typical contact hours: 175] Prerequisite Skills: Intercollegiate sports programs are based on the academic standings and eligibility requirements of the CCSA. All student athletes must meet these eligibility requirements prior to participating in an intercollegiate sport. Expected Outcomes for the Students: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to: 1. develop advanced skills of soccer; 2. demonstrate increased level of physical conditioning from beginning of semester in a progressive sequence; 3. perform soccer play at an advanced level of competition; 4. compete with fellow students in intercollegiate soccer; 5. demonstrate the roles of leadership, team play, sportsmanship and other social values related to team competition.
