SPECIAL PROJECTS IN RADIO
Catalog Description:
38 - Special Projects in Radio
(May be repeated 3 times)
2 units
Practical experience in radio programming including music, audio production techniques, promotions,
news, live sports, and underwriting sales. Experience in broadcast operation of KCRH-FM. Prerequisite:
Mass Communications 34 completed with a grade of "C" or higher. 1 hour lecture, 3 hours lab.
[Typical contact hours: lecture 17.5, laboratory 52.5]
Prerequisite Skills:
Before entering the course the student should be able to:
1. operate all types of standard broadcast studio equipment;
2. create, record, edit, and prepare for broadcast, announcements, promotional and continuity copy
suitable for use in professional environment;
3. demonstrate an understanding of general broadcast station and will successfully work with
promotional copy, and prerecorded inserts;
4. present a complete radio audition tape, utilizing live and recorded sources,
with smooth control of continuity and appropriate on air production techniques.
Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
