Chabot College January, 1993 Course Outline for English 70 REPORT WRITING Catalog Description: 70 - Report Writing 3 units Preparation of reports in industrial and technical fields, including explanations, instructions and other kinds of writings, based on the demands of the occupations. Strongly recommended: Eligibility for English 1A or 52A. 3 hours. Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon Completion of the course the student should be able to: 1. demonstrate a mastery of techniques for writing reports and articles, including informal memos, letters, and formal reports with illustrations; 2. demonstrate a mastery of techniques of data collecting, outline writing, abstracts, and revising preliminary drafts; 3. establish appropriate purpose, tone and emphasis in relation to a given audience; 4. write grammatically correct, concise, clear, and objective prose.
