Chabot College September, 1994 Replaced Fall 2006 Course Outline for Business 95 BUSINESS WORK EXPERIENCE Catalog Description: 95 - Business Work Experience (May be repeated 3 times) 1-3 units College supervised on-the-job training for work in a business related occupation. Through the cooperation of the work supervisor, contract to accomplish new learning objectives or broaden experiences in work field. Corequisite: Business 96. 5-15 hours of employment per week. Student Requirements: 1. 2. 3. Be enrolled in at least 7 semester units (including the work experience units). Have a job that relates to your courses or major. Regularly attend a one-hour work experience seminar (Business 96) each week. Coordinator’s Duties: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Approve work stations which may be paid or volunteer positions. Interview applicants to determine acceptance in course. Observe student’s performance on the job. Consult with employer concerning student’s progress. Obtain written evaluation of student’s performance from each employer. Conduct weekly class meeting. Assign course grades. Each student chooses specific learning goals that call for worthwhile new accomplishments on the job and that those goals are acceptable to the employer. Maintain the appropriate student records as required by law. Methods of Evaluating Student Progress: The achievement of the student’s semester goals are measured by his/her employer in whatever terms are appropriate and evaluated by the instructor.
