Catalog Description:
95 - Work Experience
(Business 95 and Work Experience 95 may be repeated for a combined total of 3 times. )
1-3 units
College supervised on-the-job training. Paid or volunteer work experience, including an internship, in
an occupation related to student's major or classes at Chabot. Cooperative effort between student,
supervisor, and instructor to accomplish new work objective and broaden experiences for each
semester enrolled. Corequisite: Business 96. 5-15 hours of employment per week.

Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

resolve learning objectives established with the instructor, supervisor, and student at the
beginning of the school term;
apply and refine skills learned in the classroom to a job in his or her career field where those
skills may be demonstrated;
apply educational ability, level of maturity, personality, behavior, attitudes toward a job, interpersonal relationships, and identify areas where changes may be required;
relate work experience education to courses being taken and other courses offered at the
college;
discuss importance of continuing education as it relates to current employment, advancement,
retraining needs, as they apply to future career satisfaction;
develop understanding of career opportunities, job requirements, employer expectations, and
promotional requirements in an occupational setting;
assess personal goals, needs, and making a concerted effort towards self-improvement;
demonstrate enhanced management skills through the establishment and achievement of
learning and performance goals.
