AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLIES

64B – Automatic Transmission Assemblies
(May be repeated three times)
November 1996
3 units
Continuation of Automotive Technology 64A with an emphasis on diagnosis, repair and adjustment of automatic transmissions/ transaxles. Includes the study of torque converters, friction materials, hydraulics, gear trains, and controls. Strongly recommended: Automotive Technology 61B and 64A or equivalent. 1½ hours lecture, 5 hours laboratory.

Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1. apply automatic transmission/transaxle principles in diagnosis, repair and adjustment;
2.
3. apply electronic transmission/transaxle principles in diagnosis, repair and adjustment; use basic testing and diagnostic equipment in the inspection, diagnosis and repair of automotive and electronic transmission/transaxles.
