Program
The focus of both the Masters degree and the endorsement is to prepare K-12 teachers to integrate technology
into their teaching. Completion of specialization requirements and submission of the application of the endorsement to the Ohio Department of Education entitles the recipient to teaching educational technology at the (K-12)
At what level will I be endorsed by the state?
The Educational Technology specialization and core course schedule is available is online.
How do I know the location of a course and how the instruction will be delivered?
Section numbers provide information regarding course location. A section (Sect.) 50 course indicates it will be held
at CSU. A section (Sect.) 750 course indicates it will be held at Lorain County Community College. A section (Sect.)
751 course indicates it will be held at the CSU East Center. Note, you should attend class at the location where you
are registered. A section (Sect.) 501 course indicates the course is a web based course.
What sequence should I follow to complete the specialization?
The following order of specialization courses is recommended - 1) ETE 565, 2) ETE 566, 3) ETE 567, 4) ETE 568 and
5) ETE 595.
Do I have to take all specialization classes prior to ETE 595?
Yes and No - Students are allowed to take one ETE course concurrently with ETE 595 but it is not recommended, as
materials from the prerequisite courses are integral to ETE 595 content. Contact your advisor if you wish to register
for ETE 595 concurrently with another specialization course.
Why is ETE 595 taught during the first six-week session of the summer rather than the second session?
ETE 595 includes a 15-hour practicum experience. As such, it is necessary to conduct ETE 595 during a time when
K-12 schools are still in session.
How do I know where to meet if my class is online?
Most faculty meet face-to-face for the first and last session of the semester. Contact the administrative assistant in
the Department of Curriculum and Foundations (216) 687- 4577 for directions regarding the time and location of
the first meeting.
How do I complete the district plan for ETE 566 if I am not currently employed in a school or district?
You will be paired with another student in ETE 566 if you do not currently have access to a school system.

How do you know who your advisor is?

How do I get an advisor?
An advisor will be assigned to you after you have applied to the Master’s degree program. Advising assistance is
also available at the Education Student Service Center office in Julka Hall room 170 or call (216) 687-4625.
What is a graduate program of study and what do I do with it?
A graduate program of study is a contract between you and your advisor documenting your coursework and exit
requirement plans. The primary benefit of the program of study is to eliminate confusion regarding completion
requirements especially in instances where program requirements change.
How do I get my Computer/Technology endorsement?
Once you have completed your specialization requirements you should complete an Ohio License Renewal form
available in Julka Hall 170. Submission of the form requires copies of final transcripts (unofficial transcripts are
acceptable) and a check or money order payable to the Ohio T.E.C. in the amount designated on the application.

Practicum
How do I conduct a practicum in ETE 595 if I am not currently employed in a school or district?
The practicum will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Common solutions include assisting with instruction at
CSU and assignments in non-traditional classrooms (corporate training).
