B1700/1800 Renovation Steinberg Architects presented the Feasibility Study Status Report. The revisions to the FPP have been approved by the state as being minor and will not require a change request letter. Budget check has been done and we are on budget. State has committed funding through the contract document stage but has not yet committed to construction funding. Flexible furniture is suggested to allow labs to serve dual function as lecture spaces. Project intends to also improve the exterior spaces between the two buildings. Construction will be phased because campus cannot lose that many teaching stations at one time. Swing spaces are being looked at. Project Status Update: Doug Horner presented the current status of our newest projects. Question as to why the classroom door hardware in B800 is different than in B500. Security unilaterally changed B800 door latches to Storeroom function (always locked) because of equipment theft concerns. Users prefer B500 door hardware which is classroom function. Signage being worked on. The specifications for interior signage is being tightened and will be included in the design standards given to design teams. The exterior signage, way finding and building, will be designed and specified to develop biddable documents. Project will be bid and new campus wide signage will be installed throughout. CSSC – schedule is very tight. Hopefully can move in April 5. B100 Modernization - Requested $2 M from district to do the "moderate" scope. Rumor Control: Reprographics moving into B200, the old EOPS area. BMW to move into B3400. IT moving from EOPS area to Gerald's old area upon them vacating. Chabot College Facilities and Sustainability Committee Minutes Page 2 Measure B has not yet been informed about where reprographics will end up. This needs to be confirmed because such a move will probably require alterations to the existing spaces. BMW M.O.U. was approved by B.O.T. at the January meeting. The M.O.U. calls for about 3,300 s.f. in dedicated space for the program. This is estimated to have a Total Project Cost of about $1.6M if B3400 is renovated to accommodate the program. This is being discussed at the District level. Gerald’s area in B200 has been suggested as a swing space for campus IT during the B300 renovation. Other Matters Initiated: None Chabot College
