BU College of Business’ Professional Development Program As a student in the College of Business, you will take part in programs associated with The Zeigler Institute for Professional Development (ZIPD). ZIPD is a comprehensive educational experience designed to build the personal and professional capacities necessary for your career success. Each semester, you will select 3 or 4 workshops and activities for your own professional development. You will have an opportunity to attend panel discussions, networking events, etiquette dinners and many other activities on a variety of topics. You will also take an Introduction to Business course, BUSED 101, which provides a study of business and its environment, organization, operation, and the interrelationships with government and society. Here are some of the class activities in BUSED 101: Attend a variety of expert panels to learn more about running a business, owning a business, financing a business and how to get your first internship or job. You will be able to ask questions and meet alumni and employers from a variety of industries. . Learn more about your interests, potential career paths and industries by taking career assessments. The annual fall ZIPD Business Conference is a college-wide event where successful alumni impart wisdom and share their career experiences with all students. This year’s Conference will be held on October 15th and 16th. During this two day event you will attend panel discussions and presentation workshops. Within your first few weeks on campus several sessions will be offered to meet with Mary Howe, ZIPD Director, to discuss specific workshops and activities in which you would like to be involved during the fall semester. The ZIPD Office is located in Sutliff Hall, Room 244.
