Centennial Honors College Western Illinois University Undergraduate Research Day 2014 Poster Presentation The Effects of Parenting on a College Student’s Promiscuity Levels Katie Kaminskas Faculty Mentor: Eugene Mathes Psychology The purpose of this research is to look at parent-child relationships to see how they relate to an adolescent’s level of promiscuity. We are predicting that father/mother absence will be positively correlated with promiscuous sexual attitudes and behaviors, father/mother absence will be negatively correlated with parental warmth and control, and that parental warmth and control will mediate the positive relationship between father/mother absence and promiscuous sexual attitudes and behaviors. The researchers developed several questionnaires given to participants online. Data has been collected; however, it is still in the process of being analyzed. Final results will be ready for presentation.
