You’ll receive expert mentorship as you follow a development plan tailored to prepare for an account manager position. Job shadowing and participation in inventory and audit preparation will deepen your understanding of Summit’s operations. You’ll also have additional peer support as you progress through the program with other Sales Development Program associates. Training and continuing education are vital components to every associate’s success at Summit, so you’ll be assured of a variety of opportunities that will enhance your capabilities. Your training will include a series of Product Fundamentals courses through Summit University and other programs, onsite training with our industry’s leading manufacturers, and completion of the National Association of Electrical Distributor’s Electrical Products Education Course (EPEC). Typical Sales Development Career Path: Over your first two years, we will give you a foundational understanding of every aspect of Summit’s business model and experience that will prove invaluable over the course of your career in sales and management. Warehouse Counter Sales • Experience in logistics including delivery, shipping, receiving, and pulling orders. • Acquire deep product knowledge becoming a subject-matter-expert in Summit’s in-stock items. • Work with counter and inside sales teams to deliver exceptional service. • Hone your sales skills as you interact face-to-face with Summit’s customer base. (up to 6 weeks) (up to 1 year) • Introduction to Summit’s SAP system. Customer Service Representative (1 year) • Work to ensure customer success on projects large and small while maintaining solid profit margins. Opportunities in Outside Sales & Management • Master Summit’s sales processes and SAP system. • Obtain deep knowledge in multiple product lines targeting diverse market segments. • Understand Summit’s competitive advantages and market conditions.
