Statement by the City’s Executive Mayor, Patricia de Lille Peace Summit will continue in interests of peaceful dialogue All preparations for the 14th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates are going ahead as planned. South African laureates have written to all invitees encouraging them to attend in the interests of strengthening the global peace dialogue, and to send a message that the South African Government’s appalling treatment of the Dalai Lama will not go unchallenged. It is the City of Cape Town’s view that to relocate the summit is to further concede to those forces that are against peaceful dialogue. To do so would play directly into the agendas of those who are against peace. Let us live our peace in honour of Nelson Mandela.
