About the Project: “The future will either be the inspired product of a great cultural revival, or there will be no future,” wrote Aurelio Peccei, the co-founder and the first president of the Club of Rome, in 1981. And Albert Einstein’s familiar observation, that we cannot solve our problems by thinking in the same way as we did when we created them, expresses a similar sentiment: Typical contemporary problems, both the global ones such as the environmental degradation, and the local ones such as the rising costs of healthcare, can only be solved by a new way of thinking and being. The question remains, how will this still abstract and latent possibility, of finding and following a new direction, be practically realized? The key point dialog is a technique developed at the University of Oslo, whose purpose is to facilitate such development. The goal of a key point dialog is to discover the ‘key point’—an insight that is sufficiently strong and profound to initiate ‘a great cultural revival’. With this letter we would like to invite you to take part in the Cultural Revival Dialog Zagreb 2008 where this technique will be applied. The dialog will be held in Europe House Zagreb, Jurišićeva 1, on Friday June 6, from 6 to 9 PM. To ignite and energize the dialog we have arranged for an inter-cultural meeting. We will benefit from the presence of Master Li Jun Feng, the Headmaster of Sheng Zhen Qigong, and his daughter Li Jing, who will introduce us to an uncommon way of thinking and being. Works of quantum physicist Werner Heisenberg, futurologist Aurelio Peccei, medical researcher Werner Kollath and author and social critic Aldous Huxley will provide a suitable context for this meeting of worldviews, which will allow us to embed our guests’ seemingly esoteric ideas in contemporary, mainly scientific thinking. Insights into the practice of Sheng Zhen Qigong, of which our guests are the most respected teachers, will broaden our understanding of human and cultural possibilities that may now be available to us. The dialog will then proceed through four stages called Awareness, Responsibility, Freedom and Renaissance, during which all of us will have an opportunity to share related thoughts, experiences, reservations or enthusiasm. The messages and impulses created in our dialog will subsequently spread and grow in Croatia and worldwide through Internet and other media. The question remains: How will this still abstract and latent possibility, of finding and following a new direction, be practically realize? We will appreciate being informed about your possibility to attend on e-mail: renata.bacic@europe.hr Renata Bacic and Dino Karabeg European Movement Croatia and University of Oslo
