Emphasis on examination of how Chicano cultural experience can affect collegiate success. 1 hour. [Typical contact hours: 17.5] Prerequisite Skills: None Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon completion of the course the student should be able to: 1. demonstrate an understanding of the relationship of Chicano cultural experiences to education; 2. demonstrate an understanding of the importance of both peer group relationships and the campus community to academic success; 3. demonstrate awareness of Chicano ethnicity in areas of politics, economics and social integration; 4. develop a cohesiveness and a sense of relationship with groups and individuals inside/outside their culture; 5. develop comprehensive skills in learning the various aspects of college resources; 6. define a statement of personal career goals and objectives.
