Course and Program Proposals
Wayne announced that proposals that met the deadline will have priority. It was noted
that library approval is now optional because the library checkbox must be completed.
a. Digital Media, Eric Schultz presented.
Digital Media 41, Graphic Design Concepts, 3 units
This is a new course that provides a solid foundation in graphic design to
students who wish to work in digital media. This course is a first step in adding
graphic design to the Digital Media curriculum.
There was discussion on deleting the Graphic Design art classes, as they have
not been offered in some time.
Digital Media Certificate
Edna noted that this certificate is not state approved and will not appear on
students’ transcripts. It is being revised to include DIGM 41; DIGM 34 has been
changed to an option to keep the total units at 15.
MSC (Cirera-Perez/Klein) to approve DIGM 41 and the Digital Media
Certificate.
b. Business 2, Intermediate Accounting, 4 units
Wanda Wong presented a request to increase the units from 3 to 4. She presented a
handout showing the requirements for CPA Licensure and explained that because the
units required have been increased, many people are coming to Chabot just to
acquire units towards licensure. Because the pass rate for CPA Licensure is 20%,
she has modified this course to include beneficial subjects such as leases, pensions,
income tax, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) that will help
students pass the CPA test.
Jane questioned the balance between the number of Outcomes and Course Content.
It was agreed to include the GAAP/IFRS item in both areas.
MSC (Klein/Leach) to approve BUS 2as corrected.
c. Communication Studies. Christine Warda presented and Jane explained the C-ID
approval process.
Communication Studies 2, Oral Interpretation of Literature, 3 units
Changed from Communication Studies 2A; edited course objectives and content
to meet the C-ID designation.

d. Anthropology (AA-T) Mireille Giovanola presented.
This new degree would help students who plan to transfer to CSU start to separate
their area of specialization.
Needed:
• Correct the total on the Template to 19-22
• ANTH 4 has not been formally articulated; Jane will resend a request for
articulation to the appropriate CSUs. If the request is not approved,
move ANTH 4 from list A to list C.
