Classified Senate Minutes – 22 January 2016 • Welcome/Call to Order o 12:09 pm • President's Report o Classified Senate presidents from the 3 sites (Chabot, Las Positas, and District) met with Chancellor Jackson this morning to continue developing the district-wide leadership development program. Program name will be Classified Leadership Institute for Professionals (CLIP) Created a draft vision and mission statement. Shared with Senate. Survey results from last semester, indicated that a majority of Chabot respondents preferred each cohort’s program to be six months in length. Given all that we hope to accomplish with the program, the team is leaning towards a one-year program instead. • Vice President's Report o No report • Secretary’s Report o Not enough present to vote on December minutes, so they will be e-mailed for approval o Results of the e-mail vote to contribute $150 toward Kari McAllister’s retirement party: 12 Yes; 0 No; 4 Abstain • Treasurer's Report o $4,643.98 in the account, does not include January • SEIU Report o Per the email sent out from our Chapter SEIU President Linda Wilson, the chapter leadership is in negotiations regarding the ME TOO in our contract. There have been several meetings before the conclusion of the fall semester; management has presented to the board in closed session what has transpired at the meetings. Now the leadership team will go back to the negotiation table with management. Please know the process is in full motion. Stay tuned for further updates. DISCUSSION ITEMS Page 1 Classified Senate Minutes – 22 January 2016 • 2016/17 State Budget Proposal o Lorenzo at Board meeting gave a presentation COLA drop Full time faculty hiring—no changes to be made Workforce funding increased o Next PBC meeting in February and more information might come • Outreach Committee o Pennies to be counted o Wanted to get a newsletter out, but it was postponed Suggestion to include an opportunity to donate to Classified Senate and why someone should donate o Working on designation change to refer to Classified Staff as “Classified Professionals.” o Developing a game night and a survey has been sent • Classified Leadership o There is interest to attend this seminar, but there is only budget to send three people o A vote will be conducted to decide who to send • Prioritization update o 1st training at Flex Day o Another session next Friday from 12 - 1:30 o February 2nd deadline to do first round of prioritization o Second round fine-tunes the process and will include information like anecdotal support COMMITTEE REPORTS • Student Senate of Chabot College o No report • Basic Skills o Haven’t met • Budget Committee o College Haven’t met o District Page 2 Classified Senate Minutes – 22 January 2016 Haven’t met • Committee for Online Learning o Will meet next Tuesday o Classified Senate needs a representative to attend this committee • CEMC/DEMC o Will meet soon o College needs FTE o Working on summer session o Starting summer on May 31st poses faculty payment issues o Explained issues with the calendar and schedule • Facilities o Campus signage review: goal is to get new signs correct and then installed o Front landscaping is done and looks nice. Goal now is to maintain it. o VRC trying to get furniture installed and the opening has been postponed. o Building 100 Painted over break Elevator project in the works HVAC vents being worked on o Concern about who is allowed/authorizes on campus and lack of identification on contractors and their vehicles. o District facilities hasn’t met but the district is looking to propose a new bond on the November ballot. • Health & Safety o No meeting, but the Student Health Center will want a letter regarding TB if a student wishes to use their services o There is work being done to improve the Health and Safety webpage • PRBC o Haven’t met o No new chair yet o Question: Can faculty or classified staff simultaneously be a “professional expert” to pick up the duties of running a committee?
