WIND ENSEMBLE I
Catalog Description:
12A – Wind Ensemble I
(May be repeated 3 times)
1unit
Band repertoire of all styles and periods. Emphasis on group participation and public performance.
Attendance at all scheduled performances required. Enrollment subject to a standardized audition
demonstrating musical ability and technical proficiency at a level suitable to the course level. 4 hours
laboratory.

Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. Typical Assignments:
a. Prepare wind band repertoire such as Holst’s Suite in F
b. Prepare technical studies and etudes from Ray Cramer’s Lip Benders and assigned
repertoire
c. Complete assigned concert listening
2. Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
a. Auditions with instructor
b. Periodic review of assigned musical selections
c. Progress testing of assigned technical studies
d. Final examination
