Cisco IOS and Catalyst Operating System
Software Release Notes
Release notes and caveat documents for Cisco IOS software and Catalyst operating system software are
available on Cisco.com and on the Documentation CD-ROM only. Use the following two procedures to
access these documents.
To access Cisco IOS publications, complete the following steps:

Select one of the following:
•
From your browser, navigate to http://www.cisco.com/univercd/home/home.htm and choose the
appropriate software release from the Cisco IOS Software drop-down list.
•
From the Documentation CD-ROM, choose the appropriate software release from the Cisco IOS
Software drop-down list.
Follow one of the link paths below, as appropriate for your Cisco IOS software release:
•
To access Release 12.2:
a. Caveat documents—Click Caveats.
b. Cross-platform release notes—Click Release Notes. Click either Cisco IOS Release 12.2 or
Cisco IOS Release 12.2T.
c. Product-specific release notes—Click Release Notes. Choose the appropriate platform and
select the software release.

To access Release 12.1:
a. Caveat documents—Click Caveats and select the software release.
b. Cross-platform release notes—Click Release Notes. Click Cross-Platform Release Notes.
c. Product-specific release notes—Click Release Notes. Choose the appropriate platform and
(if needed) select the software release.
•
To access Release 12.0:
a. Caveat documents—Click Caveats and select the software release.
b. Cross-platform release notes—Click Release Notes. Click Cross-Platform Release Notes.
c. Product-specific release notes—Click Release Notes. Choose the appropriate platform and
(if needed) select the software release.

a. Caveat documents—Click Product Specific Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 11.3. Click
Caveats for Cisco IOS Release 11.3 T.
b. Cross-platform release notes—Click Product Specific Release Notes for Cisco IOS
Release 11.3. Click Cross-Platform Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 11.3.
c. Product-specific release notes—Click Product Specific Release Notes for Cisco IOS
Release 11.3. Choose the appropriate platform and select the software release.
To access Catalyst switch release note publications, perform the following steps:

From your browser, navigate to http://www.cisco.com/univercd/home/home.htm. Choose the
appropriate switch from the Catalyst Switches drop-down list.

From the Documentation CD-ROM, choose the appropriate switch from the Catalyst Switches
drop-down list.
Select the appropriate links, as follows:

Click or navigate to the desired Catalyst switch and release. Click the Release Notes link.
•
Click the Release Notes link and choose the specific software release.
•
Click the Release Notes link for a specific release.
Obtaining Documentation
The following sections provide sources for obtaining documentation from Cisco Systems.
World Wide Web
The most current Cisco documentation is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.cisco.com.
Translated documentation can be accessed at http://www.cisco.com/public/countries_languages.shtml.
Documentation CD-ROM
Cisco documentation and additional literature are available on a Cisco Documentation CD, which ships
with your product. The Cisco Documentation CD is updated monthly and might be more current than
printed documentation. You can order the Cisco Documentation CD as a single unit or as an annual
subscription, as described in the section “Ordering Documentation.”
Printing Release Notes
To print Cisco IOS release notes, use your browser to navigate to the desired release note. Click the PDF
file icon in the top, upper-right corner. From the File drop-down menu, choose Print.

Ordering Documentation
Cisco documentation—such as hardware installation guides, quick start guides, and configuration and
command reference manuals—is available in the following ways:

If you are a Registered Cisco Direct Customer (that is, a registered user on www.cisco.com), you
can order one or more hard copies of Cisco product documentation from the Networking Products
