Programme
The series of projects covering signalling
research and innovation lead by Network Rail
forms a distinct programme, covering areas
such as asset management and design.
This programme is intended to cover
improvements in current signalling, including
links with other aspects of infrastructure and
connecting to ongoing programmes of work.
The projects currently underway include:

• A scheme tool which reads in asset and
map data to for ma geographical view and
schematic view of the network
• A clearance calculator that allows users to
obtain a range of data on lineside assets
• A video-based tool that allows users to
view the railway and track layouts easily
• A 3D virtual model of lineside assets in
open file format, widely available
