Review of Health Data workshop Andrea Bafni (AB) took the HEG through the high level findings from her work on health data user requirements. She explained that her remit was to develop recommendations for health indicators that could be practically maintained on a system and used at an industry level. BAJ, VR and TS indicated there interest in involvement on how the HSE 6 Essentials highlighted in AB’s report may be used in the health data user requirements debate. The HEG found the review insightful and thought it would provide helpful input to its own work on Occupational Health Indicators. Action HEG will read the full report by AB once it has been finalised. The Occupational Health Indicators sub-group will then re-convene to consider how its insights can help build on the current indicators framework. This sub-group meeting has been set for 9 February (2-4pm). AB to relay the request regarding the HSE 6 Essentials to DH for further action. 2 Health Economics Group (HEG) Update on deliverables: 1) Health indicators Update on deliverables: 2) ROI Tool VR to approach Lawrence Waterman (now at Battersea The HEG thought it would be Power Station) to see if he would useful to invite an OH expert from a be available. different sector to the next meeting to provide alternative perspectives on health indicators. See above BAJ reported that the tool is now live on the RSSB website. It was acknowledged that further work on its design and navigation need to be done. How to promote the tool to industry was discussed. The suggestions were: BAJ to speak to DH further on promoting the ROI tool along the lines recommended by the group. BAJ to circulate a link to the tool. 1. Mini workshops in London 2. Set up roadshows at TOC stations where a number of operators could be invited. NB. Webinars were not considered a favourable option. Update on deliverables: 3) Evaluation study BAJ provided an update on the project. BAJ asked for input on whether the evaluation study should be a Big Bang study (3 yrs) or perhaps an initiative(s) that were smaller scale and would take less time. The former option was more favourable – with clear end points at say 12 month intervals which would determine if the project continued to the next stage. MT also suggested a pre-study phase which could comprise desk research/literature search to identify likely interventions (with ROI and timescale scenarios included). It might be possible to draw on student resource to help with this. MT and BAJ could sound out Nottingham University and A meeting is to be set up to understand the supplier requirements for a project such as this. Identify health interventions. Convene the study sub-group to advance these suggestions. 3 Health Economics Group (HEG) Goldsmiths College, London (respectively).
