Comments for the Tables 1S – 7S
The microwave spectra used to derive a series of parameters are reported in Tables 1S – 7S
below. The spectra have been fitted to Watson’s Hamiltonian employing the A-reduction Irrepresentation (Watson, J. K. G. Vibrational Spectra and Structure; Elsevier: Amsterdam 1977;
Vol. 6.) using the standard least-squares method (see e. g. Hamilton, W. C. Statistics in
Physical Science; The Ronald Press Company: New York 1964).
Some of the quantities appearing in these tables need further definition: The labels of
the quantum states of the transitions are given as J’’ K-1’’ K+1’’ J’ K-1’K+1’. The observed
frequencies, the weight assigned each transition, the observed – calculated residuals, and the
centrifugal distortion corrections are all given in MHz. The centrifugal distortion correction (in
MHz) is further divided into total, which includes the total contribution from the Watson
quartic and sextic centrifugal distortion constants to each transition, whether they are fitted or
held fixed in the least-squares fit. higher is the contribution (in MHz) from the sextic
centrifugal distortion constants. fixed is the contribution (in MHz) from quartic and sextic
centrifugal distortion constants held fixed in the least-squares fit. t given in the heading of the
tables, is Student’s t-test. rms is the root-mean-square deviation, which is defined as a
dimensionless quantity in weighted least-squares fits. The rotational constants are given in the
order A, B, and C and are in MHz. Their uncertainties are one standard deviation (in MHz). The
dimensionless asymmetry parameter kappa is defined as
= (2B – A – C)/(A – C). The
principal-axes inertial constants have dimension u Å2. They have been calculated using a
conversion factor of 505379.05 MHz u Å2. Their uncertainties of one standard deviation (in u
Å2) have been calculated by propagating the one standard deviation uncertainties of the
rotational constants. The quartic centrifugal distortion constants are
J,

their corresponding one standard deviations are given in kHz, while the sextic centrifugal
distortion constants

deviations are given in Hz. The correlations between the fitted spectroscopic constants are

numbers of each fitted spectroscopic constant.
