The birthday present is going to be a Festschrift.
As a tribute to her never-ending political engagement, we suggest to
form the Festschrift as a ”book of pamphlets”. That is, one-pagers expressing a
point of view, a position, a statement – like a series of pamphlets. Your task is
to make a statement or position paper about an important issue in your research
(or work or life in general) that has been inspired by Joan and her work. The
pamphlet should be a position statement that Joan will enjoy. We have made a
template so that the pamphlets will have a similar design, but we also
encourage you to find your own form within the provided frame. The text page
would be about 700 words and look similar to this text. Templates at

We also want to add a second page with your name and photo + some
words about how, where, when you met Joan or how you came to know her.
We have made a template for that too with less text; but with the possibility of
adding more photos of Joan if you want to.
The book will be printed in a notebook style, in A4 format (see the
sketch above). It will be produced at self-cost, i.e. you will pay the printing
costs. In line with the pamphlet genre, the print will be black & white.
Please do the following:
1. sign up for a contribution with Tone: tone@ifi.uio.no
2. check the list of recipients and add people you think wants to join.
Tell Tone about them so that she updates the main recipient list
3. indicate if you will be present at PDC in Roskilde to get a copy of
the book and celebrate Joan
Submission: 2 documents of 1 page each in word and pdf format
Deadline: August 1. 2012 + availability in the first week of August for possible
corrections.
