Ohio Auditor Dave Yost, Cuyahoga County Councilman Dave Greenspan, and Cleveland
State University Announce Partnership for an Elected Public Officials Training Program
Information Provided on Partnership, Programmatic Details, and Training Curricula
Cleveland, OH – Cuyahoga County Councilman Dave Greenspan, Ohio Auditor Dave Yost, and Cleveland State
University’s Levin College of Urban Affairs will announce the commencement of a partnership at a press conference on
March 3, 2016. Auditor Yost, Cuyahoga County, and the Levin College will collaborate on the Newly Elected Public
Officials Training Program. The training program is designed to work toward the professionalization of public service by
providing high quality public policy and management curricula and valuable opportunities to network for new public
officials.
“This is a natural partnership among the Auditor of State, Cuyahoga County, and the Levin College,” Councilman
Greenspan stated. “The Auditor’s mission of smarter, streamlined government, and the promise of the Levin College to
develop and support thought leaders in urban policy and public management both perfectly complement the County’s
Charter responsibility of collaborative leadership with the municipalities in the region.”
“Nobody shows up on the first day of a job with all the tools needed for success,” Auditor Yost said. “I’m glad to partner
with the Cuyahoga County Council and the Levin College of Urban Affairs to help equip newly elected officials with the
knowledge and skills necessary for effective public service.”
“Creating opportunities for increased professionalism among our newly elected officials is a crucial step towards
achieving one of our core imperatives: Government that gets results” said Armond Budish. “In order to serve our
residents and serve them well we must invest time and attention to increasing our knowledge base and skills.”
Center for Experiential Learning Director Lisa Thomas, PhD said “The Levin College of Urban Affairs (LCUA) is thrilled to
participate with the State Auditor’s Office and Cuyahoga County Council on the Newly Elected Officials Training. Sharing
our knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing municipal governments is central to the LCUA mission.”
