I. The Graduate Council minutes are available in the Graduate School office and on the Graduate
School website at www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool.
II. A motion was made by Gary Elbow and seconded by Eileen Johnson to approve the minutes
from the 7th meeting of the Graduate Council held on Thursday, April 5, 2012. The Graduate
Council approved these minutes.
III. Students admitted to Doctoral Candidacy.
The following students were admitted to candidacy for the doctorate on the recommendation of
their departments. A motion was made by Eileen Johnson and seconded by Betty Stout. The
Graduate Council approved these candidates.

VI. Informational Business
The Graduate Student Advisory Council is going really well and Dr. Miller announced that they
will have a home in the basement of the Administration Building.
VII. Announcements
Dr. Miller announced that the Graduate School still has some housing scholarships for the summer
semester. The room will be free but the students do have to purchase a meal plan. Dr. Miller
requests that you send an email to her attention if you have students who are interested.
Dr. Miller announced that the Graduate School has completed a study of all students who should be
graduating by now. Their advisors will be contacted to see if there are issues the Graduate School
might resolve.
Dr. Miller hopes the Council will attend the Literary Lubbock this evening at 5:30 p.m. in the
Merket Alumni Center. This will be a signature evening with Southwestern Authors.
Ann Hawkins announced that the exhibit of the rare books in the Museum has been extended to
May 20th. She encouraged everyone to go see the exhibit.
The next Graduate Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 28, 2012.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:03 p.m.
