I. The Graduate Council minutes are available in the Graduate School office and on the Graduate
School website at www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool.
II. A motion was made by Betty Stout and seconded by Ann Hawkins to approve the minutes from
the 8th meeting of the Graduate Council held on Thursday, May 4, 2012. The Graduate Council
approved these minutes.
III. Students admitted to Doctoral Candidacy.
The following students were admitted to candidacy for the doctorate on the recommendation of
their departments. A motion was made by Eileen Johnson and seconded by Betty Stout. The
Graduate Council approved these candidates.

A motion was made by Eileen Johnson and seconded by Ann Hawkins to approve the following
course application. The Graduate Council approved.

A motion was made by Eileen Johnson and seconded by Ann Hawkins to bring the following
courses to the table due to action taken by the Academic Program sub-committee. Then a motion
was made by Gary Elbow and seconded by Michael Stoune to approve the following courses. The
Graduate Council approved.

A motion was made by Gary Elbow and seconded by Hansel Burley to approve all of the following

VII. Announcements
Dr. Miller presented appreciation awards to: Dr. Hansel Burley, Dr. Gary Elbow, Dr. Michael
Stoune, Dr. Betty Stout and Ms Carry Syma for their hard work and dedication to serving on the
Graduate Council board and sub-committees.

Dr. Miller announced that the Graduate School will hold the summer graduation on August 11th
with one ceremony at 9:00 a.m. and the other at 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Miller stated the move date for the Graduate School should be August 16th or somewhere in that
time frame.
The next Graduate Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2012.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:07 p.m.
