R ELIGIOUS E DUCATION REGISTRATION
FOR 2005-06 We are already planning for the
fall, and knowing our enrollment is an
important element of effective planning. If you
have not already registered your child for the
fall, you may do so at the rectory any day of the
week.
L ITURGY OF THE W ORD FOR
CHILDREN begins on July 10th
during the combined 10:00 AM Liturgies. If you
can assist, even for just one week over the
summer, please call or email the RE Office, 617552-6105.
RED SOX TICKETS have been sold
out and we have a waiting list.
Tickets will be available for
payment and pickup at the rectory office
beginning June 12th until July 1st. Cost is $23 per
ticket and checks should be made out to St.
Ignatius. After July 1st, unclaimed tickets will be
offered to families on the wait list.
GENERAL REMINDERS
CATHOLIC G AY AND LESBIAN CONCERNS
St. Ignatius has formed a community of
parishioners concerned about the challenges that
our Gay and Lesbian brothers and sisters
continue to face in our Church. In an effort to
facilitate conversation for our Gay and Lesbian
parishioners, as well as parents and family
members of Gay and Lesbian Catholics, we are
providing an informal context in which people
feel free to talk about their questions and
concerns. If you are interested in coming

TUESDAY SHATTUCK BAKERS - Thanks for
your continuing support of our outreach to
Shattuck Shelter! We’re updating our method of
contacting bakers by using email – a saving of
time and energy and resources! Please send an
email to Sr. Diane so we can begin constructing
“Tuesday Bakers” groups. If you do not have
email, call Sr. Diane so we can also construct
“Call” lists. AND we would be very glad to
have new Bakers added to our list. For info,

H ABITAT
FOR H UMANITY – Newton’s first
Habitat project is slated to begin this month. In
collaboration with other faith communities in
Newton, we’ll work to help finance and build
the duplex units Habitat has planned for the
Webster Park area of West Newton. St. Ignatius
will work on a number of fundraising initiatives
while also providing the “People power”
builders at the home site during the summer
and into the fall months. Please keep an eye on
the bulletin and our Social Ministries page on
the parish web site for the latest information on
the project.
ICE CREAM CLUB – It’s time for us
to add more members to the Club!
Just $80 will purchase ice cream for
200+ Shelter guests for one of the
monthly Tuesday meals. If you’d like
to participate, just mail a check to St. Ignatius or
bring it to the Parish Office, noting Ice Cream
Club. The guests at the Shattuck Shelter thank
you!
COMING...SHATTUCK SUMMER
COOKOUT – The cookout is set
for Saturday, July 23rd. Sign-up
sheets for food donations,
monetary donations (to purchase items in bulk)
and kitchen and Shelter help will be out on the
gathering space table the three weekends prior
to the cookout.

THE SACRAMENTS
BAPTISM
Adults are baptized at the Easter Vigil as part of the Rites of Christian Initiation for
Adults. Infant and child baptisms are by arrangement.
FIRST EUCHARIST
Preparation occurs in Grade 2 and includes classes, retreat and home instruction.
CONFIRMATION
Our Confirmation program begins in the 10th grade. Students are confirmed in the
Spring of the 11th grade. Young adults who have been catechized but are not yet
confirmed should contact the rectory for an alternative program.
MATRIMONY
Must be registered as a parishioner six months prior to beginning Marriage
arrangements.
RECONCILIATION
Saturdays 3:15 - 3:45 PM Upper Church or by arrangement
