DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS SPECIFICATION GUIDELINES 01 11 00 SECTION 01 11 00 – SUMMARY OF WORK REQUIREMENT GENERAL This section of the project manual is to be dedicated to a detailed narrative of the summary of the work. This narrative must include a description of the scope of the work for each designer and consultant as well as the Owner and the Owner’s consultants and contractors. The design intent and parameters of each building system must be defined with the definitions using as much quantitative information as possible. Documentation of Owner and user knowledge and understanding of the design intent and the completed facility’s performance expectations must be explained. Facility programming reports and the translation of these reports into design parameters shall also be included in this specification section. This section of the specification shall be organized in such a fashion that all expectations of the performance of the building can be easily obtained and referenced during the commissioning and occupation of the facility. Generic descriptions, references to industry or local standards, or weakly defined design intent are not acceptable for this section or for contract performance at the University of South Alabama. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Project Title – Each project will be given an official title and Building ID for use during the duration of the project. The project title shall appear on all documents related to the Project. USA may, at any time, revise the project title and require all documents to be revised accordingly. Legal Description – Legal descriptions shall appear in every complete set of drawings. The background for the legal description can be obtained from the archives of the Engineering Design and Construction Department. Street Addresses – Street addresses for projects are assigned by the University. Describe the conditions for partial occupancy, if any will be permitted or required. Identify the extent of the Owner’s on-site operations, if the Owner intends to continue these during construction.
