Welcome and agenda review
Reflection:
Group reading of Psalm 42 and Psalm 30
Fr. Bob: On the September PPC retreat we had questions; What has your
experience at St. Ignatius been, what brought you here?
Ignatius in his autobiography is feeling a “dry-ness” after his wounding. Ps 42
captures this dynamic. Where are you O God for me?
And then the movement of turning mourning into dancing in Ps 30.
Take ten minutes to reflect on where have you experienced grace in the last
few days? Where is God consoling me/surprising me?
PPC Impressions of Ignatian Journey Parish Event
- Amazing, working at one of the Passport Spots. Encountering those who
were new to the parish. Opportunities to connect with people.
- Everything was beautifully done.
- Really well attended.
- Bob and Dora Community Art piece where families and others could come
together to share stories and create. Dora and Bob had a great time.
- Comments overheard- wonderful opportunity to come to know Ignatius’
story better. Picture of a parishioner’s daughter praying at night with the
“Prayer Stone”. Simple thing that was a pathway to God.
- Stained Glass Windows Tour was wonderful. By being a multi-venue
event it really provided something for everyone. “We should openly talk
about the Ignatian Pilgrimage is”
- Working after the Spanish Mass, the bilingual play and the Spanish songs
to see so many dancing and for the Latino community to experience St.
Ignatius.
- Part of the challenge was getting people to move through to the multivenue locations outside and to experience all the many facets.
- Little disappointed re: the 4pm on Saturday and how there wasn’t very
much offered (Jubilee Mass?). Challenge for next time is coming up with
alternative activities for the ‘less attended’ times?
- A little issue with Arts Based Class to? Kids had started their class and
were pulled away from the parish event to go to class.
- Numbers were good. Draft report to the PPC for the Community
Connections Commission Logistics Group for the Ignatian way.
- Kudos to Catherine and the team pulling this off!
Report out by Commissions:
- Liturgy Commission
o is updating the Liturgy Strategic Plan (update from 2009)
o 10/18-19 announcing at all liturgies to join Liturgical Ministries
Best way to recruit abundant ministers to less blessed
liturgies
o Having members of community to help write/craft the prayers of
the faithful
o Using the format of Ignatian Journey to move through Liturgical
Year starting in Advent.
Spiritual Life Commission
o Fall Movie Night: “Little Boy”
o Service of Remembrance
o Two days of reflection- Advent – Year of Mercy, and Spring –
Laudato Si
o Mission Statement- the current seems to be appropriate.
Faith Formation Commission
o 452 Children participating, 46 Catechists (need more), new Chair
(Christine Butchart), Anabella Morabito (new Associate Director of
Faith Formation).
Young Adult Group
o Room for growth
o Small prayer group meeting on Tuesday nights about 8-10 people
Latino Group isn’t represented tonight
o But there is a lot of great stuff.
o Guadalupe will happen but not El Dia de los Muertos because it
doesn’t fall on the Sunday like last year.
Report out about the presumptive new pastor/ impressions
o Amanda did a beautiful opening prayer, and Denny did a nice
contextualization of “what got us here”.
o Resumé question about his extensive administrative experience.
o People were eloquent about what the strengths of the parish were.

Fr. Ed Quinnan Visit from the Northeast Province/Maryland
- Will be visiting 10/18-19. Can members of the PPC meet after the 4pm
Saturday and the 10am Sunday. Perhaps feedback about the process
about transition, and perhaps about new presumptive pastor?
- Is there a way to be able to express and air feelings? Are there feelings of
fear and uncertainty?
- Potential process is to get an understanding from Quinnan of the timeline.
When is new pastor announced? Members of the parish council are
meeting with provincial delegate.
- Potential panel with Fr. Bob and new pastor? Post-official announcement
invite the parish to an open panel.
