Strategy, Strategic Communication Intern Description/Requirements: Strategy is a full service political consulting and public relations firm located in downtown Mobile. The firm works with several political candidate and issue campaigns, primarily on the local and state-wide levels. As consultants, they work with clients in a variety of facets including: grass roots, polling, platform development, strategic planning, media development, media relations, advertising, speech writing, public relations, fundraising, campaign organization and campaign management. In addition to the political department, Strategy has a corporate public relations and communications division. This division works with several businesses, nonprofit organizations and government entities. The internship program is designed to give students the opportunity to gain a well-rounded understanding of all aspects relating to the communications planning and execution of client campaigns. This is accomplished by both familiarizing students with the day to day operations of the office and immersing interns in a number of different client projects and issues. Applicants must be dedicated, hard workers with a positive attitude. Interns work directly with consultants and project managers and will interact with clients. It is for this reason (among others) that we are looking for students who are extremely reliable and who can maintain professionalism towards clients as well as time and client sensitive information. Applicants should have an interest in public relations, advertising, media relations or digital media. In addition, applicants should be familiar and knowledgeable in the areas of social media, email marketing and other forms of digital media. Paid positions are available. Responsibilities: The firm works with several candidates and businesses in a variety of facets. Interns will be responsible for multiple tasks, short-term projects and daily responsibilities within client and office operations for several different projects and will have a work station in the office. Interns will also assist in event planning, writing and client web and social media content management as needed. Most intern responsibilities will be fulfilled during the work week. However, interns may be asked to assist during some weekend events and activities. Additional Information: Strategy will select up to 2 interns from local universities with applicable academic departments. Internships offer course credit of up to 3 hours depending on time committed. However, interns are eligible to apply for any paid positions, which may open during the internship term.
