Chinese Christian Fellowship Of The Queensborough Community College Constitution Article I Name of Organization 1. The name of this organization shall be Chinese Christian Fellowship of the Queensborough Community College (hereafter, CCF) Article II Purposes, Objectives & Scopes 1. Besides the establishment of a Chinese Club in the Queensborough Community College, the main purpose of CCF is to spread the gospel according to Holy Bible and share our experiences in Jesus Christ to the Chinese speaking students on campus. 2. The goal of CCF is to pursue the promotion of the culture, lives and missions of Chinese speaking Christians, to encourage and to promote opportunities for leadership and life change, a fellowship for scholars, and stimulations for personal growth and excellence. 3. These purposes shall be achieved by holding weekly meetings and having joint events outside the campus with other Chinese Christian Fellowships within the CUNY system. 4. We accept and understand that under the authority granted by the Board of Trustees, as specified in the Board of Higher Education By-Laws Article 15.2, the Student Union legislative decisions shall take precedence over those of this and any other student club / organization. Article III Membership 1. Regular membership in this organization shall be open to all students of the Queensborough Community College. 2. Any person desiring membership shall register with the President or the Vice President at any general meetings and attend following meetings thereon after. 3. No person shall be denied membership in this organization because ofrace, color, sex, handicap, national origin, religious affiliation or belief. 4. All Expulsions may be appealed by the expelled member to the Student Union, but until the appeal is decided, the member shall not enjoy the rights or privileges of membership. Article IV Officers, Elections, Tenure and Faculty Advisor 1. Officers a. The officers of this organization shall be the President, the Vice President and the Treasurer. b. Candidate should be a member of this organization for at least one academic term and be recognized of their outstanding commitment and willingness to help the growth of the members and fellowship. c. The President shall: 1. 11. 111. Direct, oversee and evaluate all activities and staff in CCF Facilitate staff meetings Prepare all the reports and forms at the beginning and the end of the semester IV. Attend CUNY CCF staff meeting and related CCF activities v. Provide an agenda prior to each staff meeting VI. Take over all vacant positions and / or filled them by presidential appointment V11. Be answerable to The Student Union concerning any inquiry of the organization d. The Vice President shall: 1. Assist The President in all areas in carrying out all responsibilities as assigned 11. Attend CUNY CCF staff meeting 111. Coordinate all promotional work IV. Take over all vacant positions e. The Treasurer shall: 1. 11. Collect all dues Maintain whatever account may exist Ill. Keep receipts from all staff, and reimburse accordingly IV. Be responsible for filing the budget requests with The Student Union v. Give an account of the organization's finances to the Finance Committee of The Student Union upon notice of request f. All committee members shall share the deficit incurred during the year. 2. Elections & Tenures a. Candidates shall be regular members who attend more than 70% of meetings and meet additional requirements as outlined in Article IV, Section lb. b. Election procedure: 1. Election shall be held at the next to the last scheduled meeting of each academic year. 11. 111. Nominations shall be accepted from the executive committee Each person will have only one vote, and proxy and late voting will not be accepted. c. Each term of the officers lasts for one year, starting from the beginning of the fall semester to the end of the spring semester. d. In case of resignation before the end of the term, the officers and members may decide whether to re-elect the vacant position. The re-elected officer shall finish the remaining term of the resigned officer. Article V Meeting & Quorum 1. This organization shall meet at least two times per month, for a total of at least 14 meetings per academic year. The meetings will be held from 12: lOpm to 2pm on every Wednesday during the academic year. Any cancelled meetings will be notified to all members. 2. A quorum shall consist of two officers plus 50% of regular members. 3. Regular members who attend more than 50% of meetings can vote on elections, amendment proposals and all other votes held. 4. All parliamentary questions not determined by the constitution or these By-Laws shall be decided according to Robert's Rules of Order Revised. Article VI Amendment Procedures 1. All amendments to this constitution shall require at least two-thirds affirmative vote of the membership. Amendments shall be proposed one regular membership meeting at least one week later, or through majority vote for a special meeting. They shall take effect only upon approval by The Student Union. Article VII Dissolution of the Organization 1. In the event of dissolution of this club / organization, all accrued funds and assets generated from student activity fees shall be returned to The Student Union.
