DURHAM COUNTY Position Title SOCIAL WORK SUPERVISOR III Contract Type Full-time Work Percentage 100.00 Posting Date 01/14/2013 Closing Date 02/22/2013 Salary Range $49,052 - $84,444 Position Number 40001479 Tasks Responsible for supervising six social workers in the Adult Services division that evaluate the need for protection for elderly and disabled adults. Supervisor assures that the social workers assess an adult's need for protection and evaluate whether disabled adults have been abused, neglected or exploited. Monitors social work activities with respect to evaluations and the provision of protective plans. Supervisor manages with the goal of assuring safe and quality care for disabled adults living in long-term care facilities and in the community. Supervisor ensures that appropriate information is obtained by social workers so that appropriate screening decisions can be made for medical interventions and emergency requests. Supervisor ensures that social workers complete necessary documentation related to Adult Protective Services (APS) cases, including reports mandated by the court, attends court hearings and is responsible for seeing the social workers represent the Department of Social Services in court matters related to APS cases. This supervisory position shall provide appropriate feedback to staff in the unit about quality, quantity, and timeliness of their work. Must possess considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, including broad knowledge of adult welfare services and issues, human development and family functioning. Knowledge of NC laws and policies pertaining to Guardianship and Adult Protective Services are essential. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to teach, plan, organize and schedule management functions are essential. Requirements Requires a MSW degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a BSW from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirement: Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license, vehicle and acceptable driving record.
