Statement of Public Task for the National Offender Management Service This statement sets out the functions carried out by the National Offender Management Service (“NOMS”) that are within NOMS’ public task under the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015 (the “2015 Regulations”) which can be found here: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2015/1415/contents This statement should not be construed as being for any other purpose, context, or any restatement of what NOMS does. This statement purely applies to the definition within the 2015 Regulations. In this context NOMS should be construed as comprising NOMS’ civil service, HM Prison Service staff and National Probation Service staff. Please also note: The definition afforded to “document” is set out specifically in the 2015 Regulations, and should be construed in line with this, and not its literal or any dictionary definition of the term. Likewise the term “Re-use” also takes a specific meaning, as is set out in the 2015 Regulations. It is published primarily to provide clarity to re-users and potential re-users of the Authority’s information. The National Offender Management Service is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice. Our role is to commission and provide offender management services in the community and in custody ensuring best value for money from public resources. We work to protect the public and reduce reoffending by delivering the punishment and orders of the courts and supporting rehabilitation by helping offenders to reform their lives.
