Dean of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs The University of South Alabama The University of South Alabama invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs (SCESP). Rank, salary and tenure status will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The University of South Alabama is a comprehensive institution whose focus is on excellence in teaching, research, clinical care, and community service. The SCESP facilitates external outreach for the University and provides a broad range of both credit and noncredit programs. The SCESP organizational structure includes the Departments of Interdisciplinary Studies, Developmental Studies, English as a Second Language and Hospitality and Tourism Management. The SCESP also provides outreach through the Center for Continuing Education and Conference Services, and the Office of International Education. The Dean of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs (SCESP) will be responsible for all phases of administration for the SCESP and will report to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. The University is located in Mobile, Alabama on the upper Gulf Coast. Mobile is a historically and culturally rich urban area which has been named as one of America’s Best Performing Cities and is among the Best Cities to Live and Play. The city is located on the Mobile Bay, celebrates Mardi Gras, is home to a professional symphony and opera and is just a short drive away from the sugar-sand beaches of the Alabama Gulf Coast. The candidate must be a dynamic and innovative leader with a proven track record of success. Candidates for the position must have a graduate degree (doctorate preferred) in a relevant field and a level of academic experience that would merit the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
