Sufficient courses in the major area to qualify for graduate study in the involved discipline. An appropriate advanced degree may be used in lieu of other requirements for Regular Standing. A completed application for admission to the Graduate School. Official test scores must be sent by the agency to Office of the Registrar. All Master of Education programs require the GRE including the Analytical writing section except Health, Physical Education, Special Education, and Non Certification Educational Leadership. Health, Physical Education, Special Education, and Non Certification Educational Leadership will accept the GRE or MAT. The traditional masters programs for Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education may accept a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II exam. Some fully online programs may accept the National Higher Education Entrance Exam for China (GAOKAO) for international students (Chinese) completing the fully online program. Official transcripts from all institutions attended. A copy of a valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in the appropriate teaching field or instructional support area if entering a certification program. Submission of resume with chronology of professional employment. Two letters of recommendation, preferably from outside the academic department, attesting to the prospective student's scholarship and/or professional abilities. Two page narrative on the prospective student's career goals and purpose for graduate study. See departments for any other or more specific requirements. Keep a copy of this program checklist and maintain it. You must complete all program requirements for graduation and teacher certification. Course substitutions are not permitted. Also, note course prerequisites and follow them. You will be withdrawn from a course if you do not meet the stated prerequisites. Teaching field courses must be consistent with your area of certification. Your advisor must approve your choices for this requirement. You must take a comprehensive end-of-program examination during the semester in which you complete your degree requirements.
