Social Work Supervisor III – Child Protective Services
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position serves as the supervisor of child protective services
social workers. This position assigns cases; coordinates work flow and supervise
staff through case review and consultation. The position is responsible for staff
training, resolving problems and ensuring that quality services are provided in a
professional and timely manner. This position is also responsible for policy updates
and making sure appropriate program requirements are met. The social work
supervisor will be responsible for the on-going evaluation of staff and will be
required to perform annual performance appraisals. This position rotates being oncall after hours, week-ends and holidays. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge and understanding of North Carolina General Statutes
for Child Welfare and Adult Services. Strong supervisory skills as well as the ability
to instruct, organize, direct and supervise. Must be able to assess information and
make independent decisions on assigned program areas. Must be a positive team
player and have the ability to multi-task and empower staff to make decisions. Must
be able to communicate effectively with people of varying backgrounds and
establish working relationships with peer supervisors, other agencies, the public as
well as other employees. This position will be an active part of a large agency
management team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Masters of Social Work degree with two years’
experience in direct social work or a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree with three
years’ experience in direct social work. Any Master’s level human service related
degree with three years’ experience or a Bachelors level human services related
degree with four years of direct social work experience; or an equivalent amount of
education and experience.
Salary Range: $45,628 - $68,442 annually
