MISSION
INSTRUCTIONS:
Your mission statement should be no more than 80 words in length.
The Center for International Affairs, Immigration & Study Abroad (the Center) primarily assists
international F-1 visa students in setting academic goals while maintaining their legal status
during their studies at Queensborough Community College (QCC). The Center also provides
these students with professional development for life after F-1. Additionally, the Center hosts
CUNY Citizenship Now! events on campus to assist students and community members with
immigration issues. Lastly, the Center promotes CUNY study abroad programs and scholarship
opportunities; provides advisement and application assistance; and conducts pre-travel
seminars.
A. DEPARTMENT CORE ACTIVITIES AND PERFORMANCE
Core Activities
Key Performance Indicators
Indicators to Be
Assessed
Briefly list the major
activities conducted or
performed to support the
mission of the
department.
Briefly list the corresponding Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of
the department’s activity. Key performance
indicators are not outcomes—for example, a KPI
might be “volume of service,” whereas an outcome
might be “increase volume of service by 5 percent”).
An immigration law requirement list is given to
students to acknowledge and sign. All requirements
are talked about in depth. Various student service
departments are invited to introduce themselves
and speak about their services.
Yes or no. Indicators
to be assessed should
come from the
previous year’s
report, part F,
column 4.
Yes. A student
questionnaire is filled
out at the end to
determine if they
learned something
they didn’t know

the other in Spring
semester )
Academic Advisement
The majority of new students were able to complete
their classes successfully due to proper advisement.
The Center tracked the academic progress of each
student over the semester, and notified them if they
received alerts submitted by their professors to
rectify any problems they were having in their
courses so they can pass their courses.
Academic Achievement
We are waiting for all the final grades to be posted
to determine the percentage of F-1 students who

The Center promotes and administers the Salzburg
Global Seminar scholarship program which is held
during spring recess. The Center with the
Committee sets application requirements, reviews
applications, selects students and prepares them for
Salzburg participation. The Center also hosts
community events promoting global citizenship.
The Center tracked all new F1 students to make sure
they attended and completed their ST-100 classes
with a “P” passing grade each semester.
The Center with the committee promotes winter
and summer session study abroad programs
available at CUNY schools by hosting study abroad
fairs twice a year. The Center promotes and advises
programs students can participate in according to
their academic and professional goals. The Center
also promotes scholarship opportunities for students
studying abroad.
