Student Learning Center The Student Learning Center is the hub of academic life at Queensborough Community College. It provides a welcoming environment for students and faculty for teaching and learning. Course Completion SLC students attending tutoring sessions 4-8 hours each semester will demonstrate 5% higher course completion rates compared to rates achieved by students who did not receive tutoring services. 91% of QCC students who received tutoring services for 510 hours each semester completed their courses. 80% of QCC students who did NOT attend tutoring completed their courses. This is a 11% difference. Participation in Workshops Students attending ELL Communication workshops, Math for Business, Chemistry, Physics, Nursing workshops and Coffee and Conversation sessions will complete brief pre and post assessments and demonstrate a 2% improvement regarding post-workshop scores. 618 QCC students attended Continue to work with workshops for Foreign faculty and staff. The center is open 6 days a week; during this academic year, the center was open on the last 3 Sundays before final exams as well. Continue to offer Completed services. The noise and space issues present challenges as the number of students increases each year. Concerns include lack of privacy and quiet for tutoring sessions, safety and security, and an increase in students complaining that they will go elsewhere to study because of the noise and space issues. We continue to encourage students to come for help during evenings and on weekends when the center is less crowded.
