Establish stronger connections
to Music Department alumni.
The Music Department held its first-ever
Music Technology Career Panel
Discussion, with 4 alumni of the ME2
program as panelists, on March 3, 2010.
The event was attended by over 50
current students and faculty members.
The event was a huge success.
We plan to repeat the event in the
2010-2011 academic year, and we
plan to hold a similar event for FA1
students (to include FA1 alumni
panelists).
Establish stronger connections
to Music Department alumni.
Full-time CLT has expressed interest in
supervising the creation of a QCC Music
Alumni Association.
Preliminary efforts have begun:
data collection and contact lists are
being assembled, and
questionnaires are being designed.
In addition, plans for an Alumni
Newsletter are being made.
Complete ME2 curriculum
revision.
The massive revision of the department's
ME2 curriculum is nearing completion.
The chairperson of the Department's
Curriculum Committee is collating all
revision materials in a final copy that will
be submitted to the Office of Academic
Affairs for their comment and
suggestions.
The chairperson of the
Department's Curriculum
Committee will work with the Office
of Academic Affairs to create the
final copy of the curriculum
revision, which will subsequently be
submitted to the Curriculum
Committee of the Academic
Senate. The Department hopes to
have the revision in place by the
Fall 2011 semester.

Evaluation of achievement
Action Plan
Two full-time faculty members this year
spearheaded efforts that included most
full-time faculty and many adjunct
faculty, in establishing minimum
competencies for MU 208, MU 209, MU
210, MU 211, MU 312, MU 313 and MU
314. Efforts will continue this year to
establish minimum competencies for MU
241, MU 242 and MU 243.
Lists of the competencies have
been distributed to all faculty who
teach these courses. In addition,
meetings were held at the start of
the semester with all faculty, to
ensure the uniform inclusion of all
minimum competency standards in
all the course outlines for these
courses, and to ensure that all
faculty teaching these courses are
aware of these standards as they
create their lesson plans
throughout the semester.
The Department Chairperson and one
other full-time faculty member, served as
fellows on the VAPA (Visual and
Performing Arts Academy) faculty
assessment cohort, meeting throughout
the year to assist in the development of
assessment activities and rubrics to be
used in Music Department courses
offered in the FA1 and ME2 degree
programs.
As a result, assessments took place
in both Fall and Spring semesters
of the 2009-2010 academic year, in
MU 120 and ME 250. Plans are
underway to broaden these
assessment activities in the 20102011 academic year, so that at
least one section of all Music
Department courses will be
assessed, and so that all full-time
faculty members will participate.
