No Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer at QCC
College Now.
How did you spend your
days last summer? For
fifty students from high
schools across the city,
this summer included five
weeks of participation in
QCC College Now’s two
summer programs, The
Summer Music Studio
and The Summer Theater
Production Workshop.
Students not only learned
new skills, but also
earned three college credits.

Using professional equipment, students
wrote and recorded
their own musical compositions. QCC professors Ernie Jackson,
Robert Anderson and
Bettina Shepherd expanded students concept
of what constitutes music.
By the end of the five
weeks, these musicians
wowed the listening audience with their very own
original compositions.

180 in the Queens Performing Arts Center.

QCC College Now intends
to run similar programs in
the summer of 2009. See

the spring about an application.
Students in the Theater
Production Workshop
learned about all aspects
of theater over their five
weeks on campus. From
acting techniques to
building sets, students
gained hands-on experience that enabled them to
put on a fully-staged production of Shakespeare’s
A Midsummer’s Night
Dream.

Sweetnam, the 28 actors

Each spring, College

scholarships to graduating seniors for study at
a CUNY college. To be
eligible to apply, you
must also exhibit a
