Students will provide written answers to study guides covering these topics and will participate in discussions about the subject matter. In addition, situations involving human relations in the workplace are analyzed. Communication skills (English usage, punctuation/grammar, commonly misspelled words) are covered by using Keyboarding Pro Deluxe software, which is installed on Assessment Tools (Measurement/data collection) Describe the data collection (e.g., classroom assessment activities, student surveys, graduate surveys, employer surveys, portfolio analysis, CPE or other test results) that will be used to demonstrate students have met the objectives. Knowledge and understanding of the subject matter covered in the textbook, Professional Office Procedures, and by using Microsoft Outlook Web Access software are assessed through tests and the final examination. Writing and knowledge of business office procedures are assessed through the use of study guides that are designed to cover Internet research and the topics in the textbook, Professional Office Procedures. Methods of handling human relations situations in the workplace are assessed through writing assignments that are included in the study guides. Describe assessment results: how did students perform on each objective? Data was collected at the end of the Fall 2012 semester. The following were used to evaluate achievement: The class began with 18 students registered. The following data was generated by averaging tests and awarding grades for satisfactorily completing study guide and textbook assignments, In addition, evaluation was also based on communication skills software assignments that covered English usage, punctuation/grammar, and commonly misspelled words.. What do the assessment results mean? How well have students met the learning objectives? Did the assessment process show whether students had met the objectives? Grades Class Tests and the Final Examination cover the topics in the textbook, Professional Office Procedures, and the features of Microsoft Outlook Web Access software. Number of satisfactorily completed study guides that include knowledge of office procedures, business writing, human relations situations in the workplace, and Internet research. One student received a grade of D+. One student never attended and one student received a grade of W. All of the students who completed the course had a passing class test/final examination average. All of the students who completed the course satisfactorily completed the study guide/textbook assignments. All of the students, except one, completed the 1 Resulting Action What changes if any will be made as a result of the assessment? The textbook, Professional Office Procedures, adequately covers the topics needed for the administrative assistant to succeed and to climb career ladders in corporate, government, and professional offices. Each chapter presents real-life human relations situations that are often challenging in the workplace. In addition, students complete study guides for each chapter in the textbook to reinforce learning. The Microsoft Outlook Web Access software adequately prepares students for handling and organizing email, calendars/ scheduling, contacts, and tasks in the office environment. These study guides include exercises in Internet research. Students also use software, Microsoft Office 2010 (Word and Excel), Microsoft Outlook Web Access (organizing email, calendars/scheduling, contacts, and tasks), and Internet Explorer for research, and lifelong learning. (English usage, punctuation/grammar, commonly misspelled words) are assessed by using the Communication Skills segment in the Keyboarding Pro Deluxe software.
