2 1 Annapolis, MD April 2016 Telltale The Telltale is a newsletter of the Naval Academy Spouses' and Civilian's Club (NASCC). President’s Message: Last months get together at my house for food and games was very pleasant. We got to sit around, talk and just take it easy. Delicious food and good company always make for a good time. I think it is why I like our Ladies' Nights Out because we get a chance to talk and really get to know one another. This month we got a chance to get to know one of our members Patti DiMiceli and hear her story. I know she was excited to be sharing her story, and it was a great time. So glad that our international wives are bringing their friends to Bunco. It is a fun evening and, again, a great chance to meet and I hope give them good idea of an American friendship to take back to their countries when they leave us. I know that some will be taking the game of Bunco back to their countries too! Some business to discuss: we have given away money form our scholarship fund to the following: $1000 to the Naval Academy Foundation to be used for the Midshipman's Action Group $1000 to Navy Services Family Line to be used in the Annapolis Area for Compass $4000 to Fisher House at Bethesda $6000 to the STEM program at the Annapolis Parks and Recreation Fay Daniel Summer Science Camp In support of our scholarships program, we are in the planning stages of our 2nd Tea and Treasures event for next April 2, 2017. We need lots of help in putting on this event. Please don't wait for us to ask you to help; come and ask what you can do to make it a success. We need sponsors, donations, raffle items, committee help, etc. I am making a t-shirt quilt to give away, so in addition to the shirts I am getting from the Naval Academy Athletic Association, I need your shirts. Have a old shirt or one too many Navy or Marine shirts you could live without, please consider letting them have new life in a quilt that will raise money to give away to worthwhile organizations in Annapolis. We voted for a new board for the upcoming year. I wish them luck, fun and thanks for stepping forward to serve. Their lives will be blessed by the getting involved and giving back. It has been that for me and I cannot thank all of our members enough for the privilege of letting this "old" Army wife get a chance to meet new friends. I hope we are able to grow the group and get more people involved so they can see what a wonderful group of ladies you all are. Take Care, Becky Oaksmith Get Involved!
