JOB GOAL:
To ensure that the District’s Exceptional Student Education and Student Services divisions adhere
to all policies and procedures following all local, state, and federal guidelines and implement such
policies, procedures, and regulations for students enrolled in St. Lucie County Public Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s Degree or higher with Florida Certification in Administration and Supervision or
Educational Leadership along with Florida Certification in Exceptional Student Education.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience.

Provide leadership for the design and implementation of student support services which focus
on student achievement and personal growth.
Ensure that the specialized expertise of the Departments of Exceptional Student Education
and Student Services is utilized in a manner which supports integrated student support
services at the school level.
Assists the Executive Director in developing, evaluating and implementing policies and
procedures for various programs promoting student health and maximum educational
opportunities, e.g., Pupil Progression Policies, District Section 504 Plan/Civil Rights
Complaints; Psychological Services, Social Work Services, Guidance and Career Counseling,
and the Special Programs and Procedures for Exceptional Students.
Provides leadership for the development of the district health plan, collaborates with
community health agencies and enforces immunization laws and regulations and collaborates
with agencies and organizations in the community which provide health and human services
to students and their families in order to develop integrated and complementary systems of
support.
Enforces compulsory attendance and assists in providing an accurate system of attendance
accounting and maintains, through the Records Center and Department of ITS, a Student
Information System for all children enrolled in the district.
Provides leadership in development of guidance, social skills, drug and violence prevention,
Crisis Intervention and risk assessment procedures.
Assists with the continuous review and development of policies and School Board rules for
recommendation to the School Board.

8. Assists in the supervision of the work of Student Services/ESE District Staff including,
Behavior Analysts, School Psychologists, Social Workers, Attendance Officers, district health
services, and other personnel in the department and evaluates their performance.
9. Leads Student Services Department Staff in the development of the admissions and
placement process for exceptional student education and for identification of a need for a
Section 504 Accommodation Plan.
10. Provides leadership in developing effective school-based student teams for problem solving,
intervention and prevention following a multi-tiered system of supports.
11. Oversees the development of appropriate evaluation processes for students suspected of
having a disability or in need of an evaluation for determination of gifted eligibility or for
students with a disability in need of reevaluation.
12. Provides leadership to school based IEP teams in developing appropriate plans to deliver
specialized instruction, related services, supplementary aides and services and
accommodations.
13. Serves on the district’s placement review, DJJ intake and Code of Conduct review
committees.
14. Collaborates with Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Division to develop and implement
appropriate curriculum materials for Exceptional Education Students and ensure those
materials support and align with the state and district wide assessment process.
15. Collaborates with the Department of Professional Development to provide appropriate
professional development and training for all staff providing instruction and assistance to
Exceptional Students and ensures that all teachers are trained in the Instructional Framework.
16. Procures materials and equipment for the program, develops and assists in administering
budgets and projects and develops FTE needs.
17. Ensures compliance with applicable Federal and State Statutes and regulations.
18. Directs proceedings in accordance with legal counsel for all local and state complaints, due
process hearings and Office of Civil Rights Hearings.
19. Provides guidance for appropriate recordkeeping of federal projects, inclusive of grants, audit
reports and compliance with state and federal regulations.
20. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
