young men and women are not selected to participate in Summer Seminar.
Students who are not selected for the
summer program are strongly encouraged
to continue the USNA application process.
The tuition to attend a session is $450.00, which includes room, board, program
materials, and clothing. Some scholarships are available based on the financial need of
the selectee. You can inquire about scholarships after being selected for the program. You
should plan on bringing extra money for snacks and souvenirs.

Each student is responsible for arranging their own transportation. Those flying commercial
air should arrive at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) between 9 a.m. and
3:30 p.m. on Day 1 of the seminar. Departure flights should be scheduled no earlier than
3:00 p.m. on the last day of the seminar. Naval Academy buses and midshipmen escorts
will be on hand to get you to and from the Academy and BWI.

Consider attending one week in June at the United States Naval Academy’s
Summer Seminar. This fast-paced, six-day experience will take you beyond
anything you have ever done before.
SUMMER SEMINAR
The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar offers the opportunity for rising
high school seniors to visit the Naval Academy for one week during the summer.
Students will experience all aspects of the Naval Academy including the academic
program and midshipman life.
Furthermore, students will receive an overview of Navy and Marine Corps service
options. If you think that you are interested in pursuing an appointment to one of the
nation’s service academies and serving your country as an officer, you should seriously
consider attending the Naval Academy’s Summer Seminar.

The Naval Academy Summer Seminar Program is offered exclusively to young men
and women who have just completed their junior year of high school.
THE FOLLOWING GENERAL SELECTION CRITERIA ARE CONSIDERED:
• Academic performance (grades, class rank, etc.)
• Demonstrated achievement in leadership, athletics, and extracurricular activities
• Positive attitude, self-discipline, good moral character
• Physical fitness and good health
• Geography

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
During the six-day session, you will become a part of the Academy. You will live in
Bancroft Hall (the dormitory all Academy midshipmen live in), eat in the dining hall,
participate in academic and leadership workshops and experience a variety of other
activities on the campus. You will have an opportunity to see firsthand what the
Academy has to offer through its exceptional academic, athletic, extracurricular
activities and leadership training programs.
The Naval Academy Summer Seminar has an academic focus. Each student attends
a variety of academic workshops.
WORKSHOP TOPICS INCLUDE:
Information Technology, Topics in Math, Meteorology & Oceanography, Robotics, Computers
& Naval Weapons Systems, Electrical & Biometrics Engineering, Ship Behavior in Waves, Ocean
Engineering, Cyber Operations, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Astronautical
Engineering, Chemistry of Photography, Chemistry, Foreign Languages, History, Political Science,
Introduction to Literature, Economics, Physics, Character Development Seminars, Martial Arts,
Seamanship and Navigation, Nuclear Engineering.
