WV eLearning for Educators Course Participant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Effective May 7, 2014 1. I understand that the login and password I have been assigned for access to the WVLearns website may not be shared with and/or used by another individual. Use of my WVLearns password or login by another individual, with my knowledge, will result in my loss of my WVLearns account. 2. I understand that I may not access another educator’s WVLearns account with their login or password. Accessing another educator’s WVLearns account will result in the loss of my WVLearns account and/or possible review of the WV and/or County Acceptable Use Policy for further action. 3. It is my responsibility to have frequent access to a working computer with online access, a word processor and tools necessary to open, read, edit and save Microsoft Office documents and files. 4. It is my responsibility to access the “system check” for my computer (on the front page of http://wvlearns.k12.wv.us) and as well make sure that I can open, read/ view, edit, save and create Microsoft Office Word or .pdf files necessary for this course. 5. I agree to keep my WVLearns profile up-to-date. I will provide my WV public schools email address, a phone number where I can be contacted and an address where I receive mail. If I do not qualify for WV public schools email address, I will await approval by WVDE, following prompting by my course facilitator, to use another e-mail account. 6. All work associated with the course for which I am enrolled is to be work specific to the current session for which I am enrolled. I will not use work created for another course or a previous session of the course for which I am enrolled. Non-degree graduate credit will not be awarded twice for the same course. 7. I understand all Orientation week assignments must be completed within the first scheduled week of the course. Failure to complete all assignments for the course Orientation will result in my being dropped from the course. 8. I agree to complete the WVLearns pre-course survey prior to Sunday at 11:59 p.m. of the Orientation session. I understand this is a requirement to remain in the course. 9. I agree to complete the WVLearns post-course survey by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. of Session Six. I understand this is a requirement to receive course credit. 10. If there is a legitimate reason I cannot complete Session 1-6 work during the week assigned, I agree to immediately seek permission from my facilitator and to make arrangements, approved by my facilitator, to complete the work during the session following this week. I understand that, with facilitator approval, I may be one week behind in the course only once during the duration of the course. 11. I agree to complete all readings, activities and course work during each week’s session with “above average” submissions for a graduate level course. I understand that I am to access and read the content for the Orientation and the content for course sessions prior to initiating course conversations in the discussion forum or completing course project assignments. 12. I understand that I will make an initial response to the discussion prompt for each session by Sunday evening as a courtesy to my classmates who are staying current with the course requirements or I will notify my facilitator prior to Sunday with a legitimate reason for a delay. I 1 understand that the posting of my initial response by Sunday evening at 11:59 p.m. is a course requirement and upon two late discussion forum submissions I will be dropped from the course. I will respond meaningfully to the postings of a minimum of two original messages by peers during each week’s sessions. I will read all original session posts by course participants and a minimum of 50% of all session posts. 13. I agree to observe the discussion guidelines as posted in the course Orientation and will be professional in my postings and responses. 14. I will complete the assigned component(s) of the course project and will submit them for peer and facilitator review as directed within the course. Subsequently, I will peer review the work of peers, as required, and provide meaningful feedback during the allotted timeframe. 15. All course projects must meet West Virginia CSOs and or Next Generation Standards for specific grade levels and content or initiatives specific to West Virginia. 16. I will actively participate with my online colleagues to build a community of learners, sharing ideas, strategies and best lessons learned in a professional manner. In this light, I will apply good judgment, proper speech, use correct grammar and will be courteous at all times. 17. If/When I have questions / concerns, I will email my facilitator or post questions to the discussion forum set aside for “Help” questions. 18. I will follow copyright guidelines. All resources referenced during the course will be properly documented. 19. All work associated with course projects, course assignments and course discussions will be my original work. 20. I understand that plagiarism, the reproduction of all or any part of another individual’s or organization’s work, of work associated with the course project or other course assignments at any point during the course will result in no credit being awarded for the course. 21. West Virginia University, Marshall University and Concord University have agreed to award three hours of non-degree graduate credit for successful course completion. Three hours of non-degree credit will be awarded for a minimum of 45 hours of coursework. If I desire non-degree graduate credit from WVU, MU or Concord University, it is my responsibility to inform the course facilitator I will do so, register for the course with WVU, MU or Concord University, register and pay for the course during the time frame allotted for registration and payment and apply for a transcript after successful completion of the course. If I omit any of these steps, I am aware that I will not receive university credit for the course. Registration and payment for course credit will not be accepted after the date provided in the course News has passed. Questions or special circumstances regarding course registration and payment must be submitted to the eLearning project Coordinator, Donna Landin at dlandin@access.k12.wv.us at least one week prior to the registration and payment deadline provided in the course News. 22. I acknowledge that the content in the WVLearns courses is copyrighted and I agree not to copy and reproduce the content of this course. 23. I understand that successful course participants understand and are able to: Create electronic files Save electronic files Rename electronic Files Locate electronic files 2 Download electronic files Open electronic files Use a word processing program—basic formatting Type into templates (Word documents) Use spell check and grammar check to check spelling, sentence completion, and grammar. Attach files/upload documents Copy and paste text into a document Respond to discussion prompts/posts—using a subject line and typing text into the body (such as in email) Print documents Take digital photos Export digital photos to the computer Save digital photos to the computer Insert digital photos in to a project template (Word document) Check email Create an email message Respond to email Recognize the difference between an email address (user name and password) and the WVLearns course web site address (login and password) Navigate the Internet—locate course website (http://wvlearns.k12.w.vus) Download Adobe Acrobat Reader (for .pdf files) Update out-of-date versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader Download and use multiple web browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox) 24. I understand that course projects are to be the work of an individual course participant. Group projects require special permission of the program coordinator, Donna Landin at dandin@access.k12.wv.us. 25. I understand upon the third time within a school term that if I am a no-show or that I become a course drop I will forfeit my WVLearns eLearning account for one year. 3
