Amanda Ashley, RESA I was unable to attend. III. Minutes approved from November 6, 2013 meeting at Embassy Suites in Charleston, WV. IV. Old Business Progress report on work with WVU-CARDIAC Project video. Discussion that data gathering about risks continues but interventions are minimal. The Council would like information about the projected end-date for data gathering and if the program expects to transition to interventions to assist students and families who have been identified as at risk. Update related to ideas on Out-of-State Fields Trips (progress, template letter from WVASN, etc.) The National Association of School Nurse Consultants is working on an on-line tool that school nurses may use that will include state-specific information about delegation of medication administration, emergency medication administration as related to Nurse Practice Acts, DHHR regulations, and education laws for states. Update on School Nurse Certification including School Nurse Substitute Training and further discussion of survey. Changes in Position Statement on Insulin Administration were reviewed and approved. References to support this position statement include WV RN board and the NASN Association of School Nurses Position Statement of School Nurse Role in Care and Management of the Child with Diabetes in the School Setting. V. New Business Introduction to changes coming related to 504 plans. Students who require a nursing care plan will most likely qualify for a 504 plans. WVDE and the Office of Special Programs is developing a training manual for this process. Review and discuss revisions to Policy 2422.7 and Basic and Specialized Health Care Procedure Manual section-by-section with input from council members. VI. Updates from WVDE See handout VII.
