completion of major projects and events. The agility to pull together expert cross functional teams,
through re-prioritisation and management of workload is essential to meet evolving priorities.

Redeployment from Marketing Services to Strategic Information Services to strengthen client
services in the area of Innovation. Innovation leading to differentiation is a key theme of Pathways
for Growth and consumer insight is the critical competency that Bord Bia can bring to play to raise
the level of innovation and its impact in delivering on the targets of Food Harvest 2020.
Collaboration between the Ireland Market Division and the UK overseas office, directed by the
London office, to facilitate delivery of a more robust service to UK and Ireland foodservice and retail
sectors, exploiting synergies between both markets where there is a common customer
organisation and where companies treat both markets as one.
Staff collaboration plan to reduce the application deadline of our grants programme from 84 days to
12.
Staff collaboration and short-term reassignments to deliver major events – Marketplace
International 2012, Bloom 2012, etc.
Marketing Services and Ireland Market Promotions teams have been merged to create synergies
for the delivery of the Food Brand Ireland theme.
An internal resource is being reallocated, on a part time basis, to facilitate international market
access and new customers for the pigmeat industry, a key priority for the sector.
The role of the entrepreneurship and small business department management has been reallocated
amongst the staff of the Food and Beverages Division to cater for staff on extended leave.

Environmental sustainability and performance is now assuming a growing importance and has the
capacity to create competitive advantage while underpinning the green and natural image that are
fundamental to the premium market positioning of quality assured production and the Brand Ireland
initiative.
Sustainability - the Carbon Footprint of farms in the Bord Bia quality assurance programmes is being
measured as part of the quality assurance audit at no additional cost to Bord Bia or the farmer. To date,
some 14,000 farms have been measured and it is anticipated all 32,000 farms in the quality assurance
scheme will be measured by the end of 2012. This process is advancing the sustainability initiative and
creating positive savings for farmers as details are fed back to farmers enabling them to improve their
footprint and also reduce costs.
2012
In collaboration with Teagasc, Bord Bia is developing a carbon footprint model for the Dairy industry.
This will be completed at no additional cost during 2012.
2012
The communication and dissemination of information on the sustainability initiative to overseas markets
