Enhanced Availability of Your Mission Critical
Equipment Infrastructure with Advanced
Security of Your Network
The Liebert Virtual Ntegrity Gateway (VNG) enables a set of services
that will enhance the availability of your mission-critical equipment
infrastructure, while ensuring the security of your network way beyond
standard industry options. Unlike Virtual Private Networks that require
ongoing administration and inbound holes into your network, the VNG
uses an outbound push of data; thus no inbound holes are required.
The VNG enables state-of-the-art integrated alarm management and cost
effective remote trending of critical operational data; and once analyzed
by Liebert’s High Availability Response Center, enables predictive maintenance unparalleled anywhere in the market. One VNG offers a robust
means of monitoring up to 200 pieces of equipment over multiple sites
within your company WAN.

Monitoring
The VNG Enables Predictive Maintenance
and Robust Alarming
Predictive maintenance is designed to identify operational
anomalies that could eventually result in equipment
downtime and predict required maintenance initiatives
that can maintain availability. To accomplish this, certain
equipment operational data is trended over a period of
time and compared to baseline or historical conditions.
While equipment network interface cards (NIC) can make
much of the operational data available, the VNG enables
the cost effective, scalable, and secure means to remotely
poll the device with the frequency required to trend
the information.
The trended information is analyzed by Liebert Global
Services 24x7 High Availability Response Center personnel,
where operational anomalies are uncovered to actually
predict maintenance that is required before the problem
creates downtime for your mission-critical operation.
While remote alarm notification and response services
are relatively valuable today, many of the alarms are
gathered by monitoring contact closures on equipment
and they generally provide only a handful of alarm types.
The VNG provides access to SNMP alarm traps that are
available from NICs rather than contact closures. This
enables access to dozens of alarm types; thus, problems
are easier to diagnose and availability is maximized.
The VNG lets Liebert manage all
equipment you’d like monitored.
And, it lets us see all your equipment without compromising the
security of your network.

Compared to VPN, VNG provides a more
secure environment with less administration

peace-of-mind and maximizing availability.
Enhanced Security and
Cost Reduction with VNG
Dial-up and VPN challenge the security needs and cost
reduction goals of most organizations when it comes to
Enterprise Remote Monitoring. The security risks created by
inbound holes in the firewall and the risk of unfettered access
throughout a company’s network are unacceptable. Enter
the Virtual Ntegrity Gateway from Liebert Global Services.
Dial-up relies on costly dedicated phone lines and a modem,
which is a single point of failure in remote monitoring system
reliability. In addition, dial-up cannot effectively provide robust
alarming or predictive maintenance.
A VPN assumes “trusted” and unfettered access throughout a
company’s network unless a considerable amount of time and
effort is spent to manage it. By contrast, the VNG is assigned
only the addresses of the contracted devices to be supported.
Also, the VNG eliminates the need for inbound holes in the
firewall through its patented “outbound push” technology.
Once the remote management session is complete, the secure
connection will automatically remove the unique session rules
and policies assigned to it from both end points, leaving no
risk for reuse by man-in-the-middle attacks.

Reduced Administration Costs
VPNs require significant administration in order to avoid unfettered
access to a company’s network
including configuration and management of profiles, firewall rules,
address translation, access control
lists and routers. This can become
unwieldy when controlling access to
multiple pieces of equipment across
multiple sites. The VNG eliminates
or automates these activities.
Quicker to Commission
It can take days or weeks to address
the political and technical issues
necessary and agree on the proper
security privileges in order to commission a VPN. With the VNG, it
only takes minutes to access data
from specifically approved devices.
Traceability and Audit Trail
Many VPNs allow any authorized
technician to access any configured
device without an audit trail unless
additional systems are incorporated.
By providing limited access between
user and device, the VNG logs all
access by user, device and time. This
creates an audit trail to comply with
HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley.
