Summary of COE Undergraduate-Level Curriculum Proposals - 2016 Curriculum
On September 30th and October 7th as well as a “clean-up session on Oct 14th, the
Undergraduate Curriculum Committee reviewed the College of Education undergraduate
curriculum packet.
The CoE packet was approved (pending any changes noted in the UCC minutes) by the UCC.
Summary of Changes for CoE packet
1) Curriculum and Instruction
a. 4 courses automatically dropped
b. Edits were made in 7 courses (ELEMECML 3149,4121,4122,4130,
c. On Oct. 14th, approved several CoE courses: ELEMEMCL 4151, LITED 3119,
3121
d. Edits (restatements) to BA-EARLYCHHD, BA-ELEMED and BA-MIDLEV due
to adding courses or removing dropped courses from programs.
2) Educational Psychology and Foundations
a. 1 course was automatically dropped
b. Edits were made to 7 courses (EDPSYCH 3109,3148, MEASRES 3150,
SOCFOUND 3119, 4134,4234)
3) HPELS
a. Athletic Training – AT
i. 2 courses were edited (AT 3000, 3120)
ii. 6 courses were added (AT 3010, 3031, 3042, 3051, 3072, 3082, 3125);
new courses were a result of reducing credit hours of AT 3000 and
providing individual courses for specific activities which were all included
in AT 3000)
iii. Restatements were made in BA-AT to reflect new courses
b. HPE
i. 6 courses were edited (HPE 4155, 4164, 4353, 4373,4383, 4663); many of
these changes were editorial in nature
ii. 1 course added (HPE 4667)
c. HPELS
i. 2 courses were dropped including HPELS 1010 – Personal Wellness
ii. 2 courses were added (HPELS 1020, 1030)
iii. Restatements were made in the following programs: ENVHLTH-CERT,
GLHLTHDIS-CERT, HLTHEDTCHG-MINOR, BA-HLTHPRO, BAMESCI, TOUR-CERT with changes primarily to reflect dropped courses
d. LYHS
i. Edits were made to 4 courses (LYHS 3991, 4995, 4996, 4997)

e. PEMES
i. 2 courses were automatically dropped
ii. 1 course was edited (PEMES 2053)
iii. Program deactivation of PEELTCHG-MINOR
f. School of HPELS – name change
i. At Oct 14th “clean-up” session: the School of Health, Physical
Education and Leisure Services (HPELS) proposed a name change to the
School of Kinesiology, Allied Health and Human Services (KAHHS).
Additionally, on Oct 7th, UCC reviewed the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Curriculum
Packet.

i. Addition of HPELS 1030, 1040; drop of HPELS 1010
b. Category III
i. Indicates automatically dropped classes
c. Category IV
i. Reorganization of courses so that non-major science courses are listed
together and those that are introductory courses for sciences are listed
separately; this does not change the content of this category; it is
meant to provide transparency to the category lists
